As Collin noted above, I should be back by 29 Jan. If for some reason I am unable to be there, I authorize Collin to make the decision on my behalf in regards to underage players... on that same note, I extend that to the weeks leading up to my return.
So everyone is aware of my views in regards to the matter (in case you were thinking about bringing little johnny out):
- I prefer the children to be taller than my hip (most reaction shots to something behind you are at hip level, which equals head level for smaller kids)
- Child must be capable of being hit without whining, complaining, crying, etc.
- Must demonstrate the ability to take shots
- Must be able to understand the basic mechanics of the game
- For me, size and maturity are more important than age
If they do not meet the above standards, I have no problem with people going off to the side, or arranging special events just for the kids.
For everyone regardless of age, if you wish to play in a class battle you:
- Must be physically capable to safely participate in the contact nature of the game, or make appropriate arrangements to not endanger the other players.
- Must clearly identify any limiting factors that would prohibit you from following the rules and agree to comply with mitigating steps (Posting, taking a death when someone comes close, etc).
- Must be willing to accept the risks involved with participating in a contact game. Bad backs, knees, tender sides etc. are liable to being hit, and you could be hurt.
- Must be able to read and understand the rulebook (on top of being able, you should probably actually read it)
- You must understand how to use any ability/spell prior to attempting to use it
Examples of ways to overcome personal limitations:
- A deaf person had a friend play with them, and stuck close. When someone cast on the deaf person, the friend signed to them what happened.
- A player in a wheel chair would play a caster or archer, and call dead when someone came too close
