V8 Play Testing

Postby Hannoske » Sat Apr 28, 2012 9:36 pm

Let it be known that TR will be play testing the V8 rules during the months of May and June.

The following days are projected for testing:
13 & 27 May; 3, 10 and 24 June

How this will work:
Each GM will become the functional expert on their class for V8. I am expecting them to teach everyone.
The GMR (who doesn't know this yet) will be the functional expert on the core rules, and will be collecting feedback.
Please read and be familiar with the V8 rules prior to these days. It will make things run smoother.
They can be found: https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id ... FLq1P40V-8

At the end of every battlegame, please write down feedback on various aspects of the game (focus on the rules/classes/abilities) and give it to the GMR.
The GMR will collect and condense these and post them for review.
Note: The GMR might appreciate if you took your notes home and typed them up for him so he doesn't have to attempt to read your handwriting.

Some specific questions to think about when providing feedback:
1) How did my class compare with the V7 one?
2) How easy was it to learn/use the new abilities/magic?
3) How simple were the core combat rules?
4) What new things did I like?
5) What new things did I dislike?
6) What would I change?
7) Were there any mechanics that were too complicated or broken?
8) How did the new armor rules work?
9) How did combat flow? Was it more streamlined?
10) Anything else?

If it is any consolation, you only need to do 1 of the play tests before Guyvas is stuck with it.

Next v.8.4.4 play test 5/27

New rules up NOW WITH BARD

Some notes from last test:

Subdue strikes are not listed so we will remove them from the next militia play test, but keep for full class. If you are immune to subdual magic you will also be immune to subdual stikes.

Please print your own rule set. or atleast the spells and abilities you will be using.

Armor will be rated on the field if not already rated by the monarch or me.

See you at Darkshore.

If you wish to share your input with the committee about the new rule book, email there here:

AmtgardV8@gmail.com

Here are the rules about sending the email:

1) Please submit each idea individually, so they can be filed correctly. Multiple ideas submitted in the same e-mail may be filed incorrectly, and may be passed over when the appropriate topic is being discussed.
2) Due to time considerations, you will not receive a reply to your suggestion unless further clarification is needed. Please do not re-submit ideas to the e-mail box or request a status update.
3) Please ensure that the ideas being submitted help to balance and/or streamline game play. Please do not submit ideas that are intended as buffs to your pet class or that are easily exploited.
4) It is in your best interest to submit your ideas with appropriate justification, and to use proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling. If your suggestion makes no sense, or gives the reviewer a headache when they try to interpret it, chances are it may not get the consideration it deserves.

FYI for those that asked for a rule book from me, I will print them the Friday before our next play test and print the most up-to-date set. (i.e. I will be printing v8.4.4 not the v8.4.3 we used last time)

please PM me if you want one. I'm asking $5 each as this is a short run and that was the agreed to price .

From the way I read the new rules, a staff is now considered a great weapon double ended, correct? If this is indeed the case, is the druid the only casting class allowed to use a staff? Also, concerning my double ended short weapon... is it now illegal as well since short weapons can't fit the description of double ended? It's cool that I can now have armor as a bard, but if it means I have to give up my staff, I'd pass on the armor...

Obey, with "look the part" Healers and Wizards get a free staff up to 6' in length. Your bardu is still legal as it has 2 of it's 3 feet padded.
