April althing!

General information, announcements, and discussions about Westmarch, Amtgard, and the LARPing life

April althing!

Postby Azus » Sun Mar 27, 2016 8:50 pm

April's going to be a busy month!

I'd combine it into one shingding, but time-wise that doesn't work very well...

April 2nd/3d:
The Darkshore account has $1,224.58. As Feastocrat, Mikezilla needs to start buying food, in the bid they allocated $1,500. Mikezilla will get $1,200 from the Westmarch; for the remaining $300 we need an althing to draw from the general account.

(For perspective, Feast of Mars last year spent $1700 for food.)

Mikezilla provided a writeup regarding feast which is attached.

Shall Westmarch provide $300 from the general account for Darkshore Feast

Several campaign statements are here

Adding to elections, I have some corpora changes from our Corpora Committee. I'm adding to the elections instead of our regular 1st week althing so that there's a bit more time for discussion of these three items.

Corpora, Article I:

Section 2, Item 3
Currently reads
"Westmarch typically meets at various locations in California (“the park”, “the field”) where battlegames, ditches, tournaments, and other events are held using the, most current, Amtgard Rules of Play. Events hosted by the Kingdom are considered to be held by the Kingdom for the purposes of officer jurisdiction and
attendance"

to be replaced with: (italicized words are to show changes, and not to be italicized in the Corpora)

"Westmarch typically meets at various locations primarily in California (“the park”, “the field”) where battlegames, ditches, tournaments, and other events are held using the most current, Amtgard Rules of Play (also referred to as RoP). Events hosted by the Kingdom are considered to be held by the Kingdom for the purposes of officer jurisdiction and attendance."

Reasons for changes:
>Accuracy - Added "Primarily" in front of California, as we have chapters in Nevada and Hawaii.
>Grammatical - Removed extraneous comma in "the, most current"
>Continuity - Added "also referred to as RoP"

Section 2, Item 4:
Currently reads:
"Westmarch sponsors several smaller chapters that also play Amtgard, but are not autonomous kingdoms. Although voting membership in the Kingdom as defined by these bylaws, all chapters within the Kingdom are considered to be part of the Kingdom and under the jurisdiction of the Kingdom officers and these bylaws"

to be replaced with: (italicized words are to show changes, and not to be italicized in the Corpora)
"Westmarch sponsors several smaller chapters that also play Amtgard, but are not autonomous kingdoms. Although voting membership in the Kingdom is defined separately by these bylaws, all chapters within the Kingdom are considered to be part of the Kingdom and under the jurisdiction of the Kingdom officers and these bylaws"

Reason:
Grammatical - changed "As" to "Is".
Clarification - Rephrasing

Section 2: Item 5

Add the following passage as Section 2: Item 5

"This document describes how the Kingdom functions, and unless specified separately, all chapters within the Kingdom shall function as described for the Kingdom."

Reason: Clarification.

Since the King or the PM could simply spend $365 (10%). Why are we asking for an althing vote on the additional $300 requested to support Darkshore?

Possibly because it is not for running the kingdom, it is only to run this one event? Just a thought.

Though funding your coronation event could be argued as running the kingdom, Collin's statement is close enough to the reasoning. Simply put, the corpora specifies under event funding that any requested funds beyond that in the event account require an Althing. And it's just good practice to ask your populace about spending sizable moneys, in my opinion.
