Unto the Populous of Dragonspine,
The four Dragonspine lands of Northern California have decided to join together to form the Confederacy of Westmarch. The constituents of the confederacy are the Duchy of Wavehaven, the Barony of Wyvernspur, the Shire of Seven Sleeping Dragons, and the Shire of Falcon’s Reach. One of the goals of this confederation is to eventually become a confederated Amtgard Kingdom, but our more immediate goal is to make Amtgard more fun for us all to play together. So far we have been working in an unofficial capacity, and hoping to prepare ourselves for the next step. At this point we believe we are ready to take that next step and ask to become an official land under Dragonspine. We would also ask that the Monarchy, BOD, and populous of Dragonspine grant Westmarch the status of Principality.
The constituent lands of Westmarch are all currently sponsored by Dragonspine. Of the four lands, the Duchy of Wavehaven has the longest history, having been started by a former Dragonspine knight thirteen years ago. Seven Sleeping Dragons, a shire once directly under Dragonspine, has long been sponsored by Wavehaven, with Dragonspine’s blessing. Wyvernspur and Falcon’s Reach have each been with Dragonspine for a shorter time.
In addition to the ever present goal of increasing the number of members in each land, we have also made strides in trying to increase inter-land travel. We have run a series of “confederacy game days” during which we tried to get as many people as possible to play at the same park on the same day. The hosting of the games rotated between the lands to give every land a chance to shine. These game days have also helped us to become a more unified single land instead of four separate groups. In future months we will continue this tradition to allow each land the benefit of running larger games, and contributing to the whole in their own unique way. Between the four lands we have an average of seventy-three unique sign-ins per month. One of our goals will be to get that many people showing up every month at our events.
We have been working towards having a monarchy in place with the hope that Dragonspine will see fit to grant us status as a land. This past July we had our first inter-group crown qualifications. We had seven entrants with sixty entries altogether, which for a first time crown qualifications seemed like a success. The current monarchies in the constituent lands have modified the length of their reigns so that in future we can hold more joint Qualifications, midreigns, and coronations.
Confederating is a goal we have been working towards for 7 years. We believe that we are now at a point where each of the groups have matured enough that we are prepared to move forward together rather than separately. We recognize that moving forward will not be easy, and that we still have a lot of work ahead of us, but we are now at a point where we would ask that Dragonspine recognize Westamarch, and sponsor us as a principality.
