Inaugural Joint SoCal A & S Friday, Feb 11 @ Casa De Storer

Postby LucasTheLost » Thu Feb 10, 2011 10:31 pm

While at the Southern Gathering, we discussed several things. Among them was putting together a joint A & S. So here goes:

Come one, come all, to Casa De Storer.
372 windy lane
vista, ca 92083

We start at 6pm. Hope to see you there.

Is there anyone who wants help with sword making? That's probably teh A&S thing I'm best at, that and shields.

We have a pile of loaners in need of repair if that counts. ;)

I forgot about that. Do you have the materials to make them? I'm guessing the cores you have, is there noodle?

Woodstock showed up. We hung out and I started pounding grommets into a cloth bracer. Slow going with a rubber mallet.

That poor rubber mallet.

So if someone brings materials to me tonight I can probably make at least half a dozen swords tonight. Otherwise I'll plan on coming out to Casa de Storer next week to make loaners.

What I need
White wrap foam. Available at Home Depot/Lowes, it's a kind of flooring foam, or something else to build up the core to noodle interior diameter
Packing Tape
Fun Noodle
Golf Club or Kitespar, or whatever else you want to use as a core.
Covers, trouser socks, or material with which to sew them
Whatever you want on your grips. I generally use hockey grip tape.

I have all these materials, but if I have to supply the materials to make loaners for SG I'd need to be reimbursed, 4$ per sword if you provide the core, 6$ if I provide it.

Whoops. No A&S tonight.

I just realized that this thread makes it look like "SoCal A&S: My Place Every Week" which was not my intent at all.

We're really not up for A&S every week at our place in general, much less throwing our doors open to whatever ragamuffins SC has scraped together. Reprobates, the lot of them! I bite my thumb at you sir!

So anyway. Yeah. Apologies for the confusion.

EDIT: I edited the original post to help clear things up.
