When the player arrives, she speaks as though addressing a disobedient child, making the encounter feel deeply unsettling.
The fight itself is a showcase of Path of Exile 2's improved boss design. Ursea uses a blend of commanding shouts, physical strikes, and corruption-fueled abilities to pressure players. Her first phase focuses on crowd control. She summons mobs of loyalists who fight with reckless devotion, each one empowered by her presence. The Matron lashes out with sweeping arm attacks and stomps that shake the arena, forcing players to maintain space while managing adds.
As the battle enters its second phase, Ursea becomes more aggressive. She slams her staff into the ground, sending waves of contaminated sludge flowing across the floor. These zones inflict stacking debuffs and can trap players if they're not careful. Ursea also calls upon monstrous creations half-humanoid, half-insectoid—to pin players down while she prepares devastating area attacks.
Her final phase is the most harrowing. Realizing she's losing, Ursea unleashes her full power. Her body cracks open, revealing glowing veins of corruption. She sheds her cumbersome posture and becomes frighteningly fast, charging across the arena and grabbing Path of Exile 2 players if they fail to dodge her sudden lunges. Chants echo through the chamber as ghostly apparitions of her former followers appear, attacking in synchronized patterns that demand precise movement.
