Darkshore XXVII: the Hunt begins

Amtgard, the crossroads between all worlds. Many realms bleed into the distant horizons, some more dangerous than others...

One world in particular, is home to monstrous wyverns, apex predators in their own ecosystems, but easily an invasive blight should their numbers grow too large or they ursurp another's territory. The most powerful of which are recognized as environmental disasters called Elder Dragons, and little is known of them save their danger to mankind. In order to protect humanity and their world, the Hunter's Guild was formed with two tasks. Investigate these wyverns, and eradicate them as needed to protect the environments that support all of humanity.

Within the Hunter's Guild is a branch specialized in learning about Elder Dragons, known at the Research Commission. They mobilize when an Elder Dragon begins to travel from the Old World to new lands, commonly referred to as an Elder Crossing. Usually, Elder Dragons migrate to the massive, untamed continent referred to as the New World, but two in particular have veered off course. The Iceborn Wyvern Velkhana, and the hunter of all Elder Dragons, The Extinction Dragon Nergigante, with a horde of lesser Wyverns following in their wake.

These monsters have appeared in Westmarch, and I fear they have found your lands to be quite inviting. Ah, but where are my manners, I've yet to introduce myself in my hurry to inform you of the danger you now face. I am the Lead Researcher of the Anomaly Expedition, dispatched by the Research Commission to determine why these monsters have migrated here, with express authorization from the Hunter's Guild to arm any who so choose to join in the hunt in the name of maintaining the balance of their natural ecosystem.
